Nervous System & General Care

What is Bio-Geometric Integration?

Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI) is a gentle, whole-body approach to chiropractic care that works with your nervous system and how the entirety of your body responds to your experiences, environments, and stressors. BGI uses light touch and specific holds to help the body find its own natural alignment and release patterns of tension, often without any cracking or popping. It's especially well-suited to sensitive nervous systems, including infants, pregnant bodies, and anyone who finds traditional adjustments too intense.

I'm hypermobile. Is this type of chiropractic care supportive for me?

Yes! Hypermobile bodies often need a different approach than a standard adjustment, with more attention to stability and control, and less reliance on forceful movement. Nervous-system-focused techniques like Bio-Geometric Integration tend to be especially well-suited here, since the goal is supporting the body's own regulation rather than adding movement into joints that may already move more than they should.

Why are adjustments 30 minutes long?

The Living Room was not created to be a high-volume office, and each detail reflects that intention. Thirty-minute adjustments allow your body to shift into parasympathetic relaxation, the "rest and restore" state where real nervous system regulation and healing occurs. The practice also maintains its overall volume, so every person who walks through the door gets genuine, unhurried attention rather than being one of many on a packed schedule. The schedule is kept adaptable for the same reason: so there's more flexibility for last-minute add-ons, private adjustments, and more room to meet you where you are that day.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes! In fact, many pregnant patients find chiropractic care especially supportive throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Dr. Kristin is Webster-certified, meaning she's completed specialized training in a gentle technique designed for the pregnant body that supports pelvic balance, nervous system regulation, and overall comfort as your body changes.

What is the Webster technique?

The Webster technique is a chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the pelvis to support comfort, balance, and optimal positioning during pregnancy and birth. It focuses on reducing tension in the pelvis and surrounding ligaments to support pelvic balance and nervous system function throughout pregnancy. Dr. Kristin is Webster Certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

Babies & Children

Is chiropractic safe for babies?

Yes! Pediatric chiropractic care is gentle, specific, and very different from what you might picture for an adult adjustment. Dr. Kristin is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and uses light-touch techniques appropriate for a baby's developing nervous system. Many families come in to support their little one's comfort, regulation, and overall wellness as they grow.

Do you accommodate sensory sensitivities or neurodivergence?

Yes, and this is genuinely one of the things we care most about. Some bodies respond to touch, pressure, and movement differently, and that's not a barrier to care here; it's something we plan around. Whether that means a slower pace, extra time to acclimate to the space, or adjusting our approach visit to visit, we let each person's nervous system guide the way we provide care.

Animal Chiropractic

Can a chiropractor really adjust animals?

Yes! Dr. Kristin is a Certified Animal Chiropractor through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) and provides gentle chiropractic care for dogs, cats, and horses around Charleston, SC and Pensacola, FL through Elemental Animal Chiropractic. Just like with people, animal adjustments are gentle and specific to each animal's body and comfort level - supporting mobility, comfort, and overall wellness for your four-legged family members.
